The novel relies heavily on historical events such as the massacre at Béziers and the Crusade against the Cathars in Occitania, now the South of France, from around 1200. The two stories occur in a shared geography and intertwine. It divides into two main storylines that follow two protagonists, Alaïs (from the year 1209) and Alice (in the year 2005). He’s the brightest of the children but possibly the closest to his mother in temperament and the most troubled. The final character that is explored is Perry, who despite his relatively young age has started experimenting with drugs. Becky is a young woman who is just coming of age and has recently joined Crossroads, a youth group run by her father’s main adversary, the charismatic Rick Ambrose. He has recently fallen in love for the first time and all should be right in his world, but then he starts to question his relationship and how he has avoided going to the Vietnam war. Clem is the oldest and is going to college. Our villain idolized this character one could even say he is obsessed. The tale stems around a man obsessed by the works of author John Rothstein and that of his famous character Jimmy Gold. While King is the indisputable king of horror, I am quite enjoying his foray into crime thrillers, and his descriptive creepiness finds its way into Finders Keepers. ![]() Bill and the gang don’t get as much page time as the previous novel but King delivered a compelling story with villain Morris Bellamy and a young man named Peter Saubers. I have been listening to the series on audio and love having Will Patton narrate them. Finders Keepers is spectacular, heart-pounding suspense, but it is also King writing about how literature shapes a life-for good, for bad, forever.įinders Keepers by Stephen King is the second book in his Bill Hodges trilogy.
